Patient Info

First Visit

We warmly welcome all new patients on their first visit to our established practice. During their initial 60-minute appointment, our patients will receive a comprehensive examination and a customized treatment plan with several options to choose from. Our professional orthodontists cater to each patient’s individual needs and work hard to perfect each unique smile. Following the initial consultation, an additional 10-minute appointment may be scheduled to develop your personal diagnostic record. Here we will take a digital impression of your teeth, create photos and take X-rays in order to further personalize your file.

During the first visit, we will identify the specific condition that is being treated and discuss whether the patient will benefit from orthodontic care now or later after appropriate tooth growth has occurred. We will also cover available treatment options, including costs and financing options. We encourage our patients to ask any questions they may have, and request all financially responsible parties be present. After carefully reviewing any X-rays, impression-less digital scan, and photographs, our team will be able to give you a more detailed description of your treatment options. Please bring your insurance information, any X-rays you’ve taken in the last six months, and a completed new patient form with you to your first appointment.

If you have an orthodontic emergency that you feel uneasy about and cannot resolve on your own, shoot a text or a picture to our Patient Text Hot Line. We have a certified dental clinician on call for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our staff and orthodontists will be happy to help you, answer any questions, and address any concerns you may have. Keeping that in mind, the truth is that there are very few true orthodontic emergencies. Most common orthodontic issues can be remedied at home with simple solutions.

Broken Brackets or Wires: Call our office as soon as possible – do not come directly to the office.
Loose Brackets or Wires: Call our office immediately for advice.
Wire Irritations: Move the wire away with a cotton swab or eraser, or cover it with cotton or wax.
Lost Separators: Call our office to see if it needs to be replaced.
Discomfort: Take acetaminophen or other non-aspirin pain relievers. A warm washcloth or heating pad may reduce sore jaws.
